The Hidden - The ArchAngel of Death Azrael
My tribute to the incarnation of Death. Not meant to frighten but to hopefully make one realize that Death is not an ending or an evil idea but something we all will be experiencing and it is but a gateway to another existence.
He was done on an old mirror back I found. The piece is approximately 4 ft tall and 2 1/2 ft wide.
It weighs about ten pounds.
Done in oil on the bottom , the top panel is in acrylic. Vintage Mardi Gras beads decorate the back mosaic and are adhered with a strong polymer.
The top vignette is of the classic theme of Death and the Maiden. A common play seen through out the middle ages.
He has no structure for hanging but can be modified to do so.
The Crimson Messenger
#001 of the Femme Fatale series
Acrylic on canvas
36 x 28
This piece represents my view of Death incarnate but in the feminine form so to showcase the more compassionate side of passing over.
This is the first in a series of Paintings that will have the same element in them.
This piece in particular is a momento mori to my Mother who passed. The cardinal was her favourite bird and every time I see one I know she is watching out for me.
Her name is inscribed on the mausoleum in the hair.
Each piece in this up coming series will have a tomb, statue, or mausoleum incorporated into it from New Orleans cemetery St. Louis #1
The Eleventh Hour
#002 of the Femme Fatale series
Acrylic on canvas
Second in my newest series. Another darker view of the Angel of Death.
There are eleven white roses ( a flower often associated with the Grim Reaper) and eleven stars.
The mausoleum is yet another like those in St. Louis #1 cemetery.
